Tribeca Skin Tonics

Tribeca Skin Tonics is a skincare band is created by holistic facialist Ashleigh Scott.  100% natural, these products are made here in New Zealand.  The products are all created without any synthetic ingredients, parabens, sulfates, alcohol, chemicals, artificial colourants, preservatives, fillers, mineral oils, fragrance, petroleum, or animal testing (spoiler: yes, they are as incredible as they sound).  If you’re curious to see how balm cleansers work, or want to know the best way to apply face oils, then read on!

CLEANSING BALM

This cleansing balm is the first cleansing balm that I have ever tried and I love it!  The balm is easy to scoop out of the jar and straight away melts with the warmth of my skin when I put it on my face.  I apply the cleanser on damp skin and it spreads out so well – I imagine that this balm cleanser would be amazing to use with a crystal face roller.  It does feel quite oily on the skin and at first I wondered how I would be able to remove the cleanser using just warm water, but I washed off the cleanser using a soft muslin cloth from Tribeca Skin Tonics and the cleanser came off very easily.

The first time I used this balm cleanser I cleaned my face with some micellar water first because I wasn’t sure how well it would remove makeup – I thought I had completely removed my makeup and so I was shocked when even more makeup came off with the cleansing balm!  This balm really cleanses your pores and removes any dirt.

My favourite thing about this cleanser is how amazing my skin feels after I have used it.  My skin feels thoroughly hydrated and soft – this makes it a really great cleanser to use at night.  Normally I would use a serum and moisturiser in the evening, but I find my skin doesn’t really need that much moisture anymore as it’s already well hydrated from the cleanser.  I’m officially sold on this balm cleanser and don’t see myself going back to anything else!

In regards to the scent, the cleanser’s scent is fairly strong without being overpowering – it smells incredible… holistic and natural,  I wish all of my skincare products smelt like this!  A little goes a very long way, so I can see this balm lasting a long time.

For me, 2018 is all about understanding the ingredients that go into products and actually knowing what I am putting on my face, so I love how this cleansing balm only has 10 ingredients – Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Camellia Seed Oil, Shea Butter, Beeswax, Frankincense, Lavender, Rose, Sandalwood, Rose Geranium.   Previously I had been using the Mario Badescu Enzyme Gel cleanser, but as much as I love that one it stings if I get it anywhere near my eyes or nose (plus the ingredients actually look like another language and I have no idea what half of them are).  The Tribeca Skin Tonics cleansing balm is incredibly gentle – it doesn’t sting at all.

It’s safe to say that this is my new favourite cleanser and it has a permanent place in my skincare routine!

GLOW OIL $65 NZD

If you’ve read my blog for a while (or even just read the name) you’ll know that I love any skincare product which promises to make my skin glow!  To me, the Tribeca Skin Tonics ‘Glow Oil’ sounds like a dream!  This antioxidant-rich oil leaves your skin looking so fresh, hydrated and glowing.

Like the cleansing balm, this face oil is 100% natural and smells amazing.   The oil is very lightweight and just a few drops are enough to use for the whole face (I also think that 50ml is really generous for a face oil as they normally seem to be around 30ml!).  Again, the ingredients are beautiful – Avocado Oil, Camellia Oil, Elderberry Oil, Baobab Oil, Frankincense, Rose Geranium, Rose, Lavender, Sandalwood.  I like to use this oil in the mornings after toning my face and follow it up with a moisturiser.

I learnt about a new method for applying face oil from Tribeca Skin Tonics which I just have to share with you because I love it that much!  Tribeca Skin Tonics recommends that you press a warm, damp muslin cloth to your skin for 5 seconds, repeating until your skin is damp and hydrated.  Straight away you should spray a face mist (I have my eye on their Rose Tonic which sounds amazing!) and then apply a face oil.  Apparently oils absorb 10x deeper when you apply them on damp skin – this means there isn’t any oily residue left and the deeper layers of the skin are hydrated.

I’m so glad that I discovered this method from Tribeca Skin Tonics as it’s been a game changer in how I apply face oils!  I used to shy away from oils during the day because I didn’t like how they sometimes left my face looking greasy, but when I apply the Glow Oil on damp skin it absorbs so well that I have loved incorporating it in my daily skincare routine.

I love both of these products so much – I have finally found a way to apply face oils which works best for me and have been completely sold on balm cleansers!  I love the quality of this skincare line… the products feel and smell luxurious, they are beautifully packaged, the ingredients are amazing, and they both work so well.
