Known as the 24-Hour Miracle Cream, the Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré is a moisturiser enriched with plant extracts, essential fatty acids and vitamins. Loved by dermatologists and makeup artists alike, this gem is what I imagine sits on the top shelf of every ‘French girl’s medicine cabinet’ (side note: do these girls even exist?)
Lait-Crème Concentré was actually the beginning of the entire Emryolisse skincare range. At a Parisian hospital in 1950 a dermatologist who specialised in skin pathologies created the miracle formula. Now you can expect to find it in the kit of many makeup artists backstage at fashion week as it works well for all skin types, leaves the skin looking plump and works fantastically as a makeup primer.
The cream is incredibly moisturising and works to rebuild the skin’s hydrolipidic film – this is the protective film covering the entire face which keeps aggressors out (such as bacteria and free radicals) and keeps moisture locked in. The hydrolipidic film is mostly made up of natural fatty acids, perspiration, water and sebum which sounds a bit yuck, but it’s essentially your skin’s personal bodyguard which you’d do well to protect! Environmental aggressors can damage the skin’s collagen and elastin, so using a moisturiser with essential fatty acids helps to keep the damage to a minimum.
The texture of Lait-Crème Concentré is reasonably thick, but lightweight. It blends out very easily and smells so beautiful. I love scented skincare, but people sensitive to smell might find this a bit too strong. The cream does a great job of thoroughly moisturising the skin, however, it does leave it looking shiny and almost ‘greasy’ (for lack of a better word) to the touch. I have combination skin, however, and this still works great for me – after a few minutes the moisturiser sinks it and doesn’t look so shiny.
This is one of my all time favourite moisturisers because it never fails me – whether I’m breaking out or having a good skin day, this moisturiser works perfectly. Day or night, this hydrates my skin, making it perfect for travelling with. Makeup applies so well over it.
The 75ml Lait-Crème Concentré retails for $43 NZD at Inès Store – the best destination for French pharmacy classics! They have the most beautifully curated selection of skincare and hair products… Bioderma, Nuxe, Josh Rosebrook and Niod to name just a few. Basically, a skincare addict’s dream.
- Lait-Crème Concentré can be used as a repairing face mask. Just apply a thicker-than-normal layer to the face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.
- Embryolisse states that the cream can be used as a cleanser and make-up remover, although I’ll admit that I’ve never put this to the test.
- Mixing this cream with a small amount of foundation creates the perfect tinted moisturiser.
For me, Embryolisse’s Lait-Crème Concentré is a classic that I’ll use forever. I’m nearing the end of my second tube and I definitely plan on buying another.
