The 1st of December is here and so is my Christmas Gift Guide!  If you’re like me, receiving gifts is great but there’s absolutely nothing better than giving.  I like to put a lot of thought into each gift, although this usually means that my presents are never sorted until a few days before Christmas because I refuse to do anything Christmassy until the 1st (much to my sister’s dismay… although this year she has gotten me to watch a few cheesy Christmas movies in November…).  This gift guide is solely aimed at those who love skincare and makeup.  If you can’t get ahold of these particular gifts they should still give you some ideas of what make great gifts for other people – e.g palettes and skincare sets.  Keep your eyes peeled because a Stocking Stuffer Guide and a Last Minute Gift Idea Guide will be following this one.  Merry Christmas!

Hourglass Palette ‘Ambient Edit Volume 4’ $127

This is the single best makeup product that I have ever owned and it’s the only thing you or your makeup-loving friend need this Christmas!  The palette has six ambient powders which are the most incredible powders I have ever used.  They are pigmented, soft, blend unbelievably well, are long lasting and very flattering on the skin.  The powders leave the skin looking lit-from-within

Hourglass are famous for their Ambient Lighting powders which use photoluminescent technology to diffuse  light on the face,  along with soft-focus technology helping to minimise the appearance of wrinkles, imperfections and discolouration.  This palette has six powders: Dim Light (blurs imperfections), Diffused Light (conceals redness), Euphoric Strobe Light (highlighter), Euphoric Fusion (berry blush), Luminous Glow (coral blush) and Filtered Bronze Light (a bronzer).

This palette is genuinely all you need for your face.  All of the powders double up amazingly as eyeshadows which makes it the perfect product to travel with. DO NOT HESITATE. Get this palette, you won’t regret it.

Stila ‘Shimmering Heights Shimmer And Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Set’ $39

These liquid eyeshadows are in the shades  Kitten, Cloud and Twig – three of Stila’s best selling shades!  The shadows are very easy to apply and dry down quite fast.  They can easily be built up, but also look nice when blended out for a softer look. Although they are shimmering, the shadows are quite versatile.  The shade Kitten looks really nice on its own for the daytime as its a neutral colour, while Twig is great for a smokey eye look!

This would be the perfect set to give a makeup-lover, or if you’re putting together little gift sets for friends you could divide the shadows up!

PORTER Magazine subscription

The gift that keeps on giving!  A PORTER Magazine subscription gives you six issues of the print edition delivered directly to your or your friend’s door. PORTER is powered by NET-A-PORTER.COM, one of the best place to find luxurious clothing. The magazine has an amazing variation of fashion, culture, lifestyle and beauty which is why I love it so much.  The articles are interesting and well written, the fashion is beautiful, there’s always a dreamy travel section and the beauty articles are the best!  PORTER doesn’t just show latest beauty trends, but rather goes into detail about certain ones. If you look at my Instagram you’ll see that a lot of the backgrounds are pages from the magazine.  The six issues compromise of Spring, Summer, Summer Escape, Fall, Winter and Winter Escape.  It’s a gift that someone can enjoy for the entire year!

Eve Lom ‘Ultra Hydration Set’ $210

One of my favourite skincare sets of the year (a big statement!), this Eve Lom set comes with the famous hero Cleanser, the Moisture Mask and a Muslin Cloth.

The cleanser is pure luxury.  Vogue UK described it as being “probably the best cleanser in the world” and I have to agree.  It’s a cross between a balm and an oil cleanser – it melts into the skin and turns into a beautiful oil which removes every last trace of makeup. It also smells like a spa. The muslin cloth works perfectly to remove the cleanser and the Moisture Mask is so gentle and hydrating.  I could spend a long time writing about the cleanser, but I’ll save that for a full review – just know that Vogue is right… it genuinely is the best cleanser in the world.

This skincare set costs $210 which is an amazing deal because the 200ml Cleanser is $188 on its own and the Moisture Mask is $143 – so you’re saving $121 by buying them together!

Tatcha ‘Pure Skincare Delights Set’ $207

This is another amazing deal!  This Tatcha set comes with the The Silk Cream 50ml,  The Essence 25ml, The Rice Polish Classic 10g and The Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil 25ml.  The Silk Cream is $191 on its own, so if you were after this moisturiser then you might as well buy this set and try out the other products!

The Silk Cream is one of my new favourite moisturisers as it makes the skin feel incredibly soft.  It uses a complete liquid silk protein that mimics the amino acid structure of human skin, as well as green tea, rice, algae and akoya pearl extract.  The exfoliator, essence and oil cleanser are gentle products that would work well with various skin types.

This is a luxurious skincare set which is a great gift to introduce someone to Tatcha – one of the most popular skincare lines this year!

Facial at Rosenthal: Signature Facial $120

A facial would make the perfect Christmas gift because it’s something that everyone would love but not a lot of people treat themselves to!  I’d recommend gifting someone a facial with Michelle Cook at Rosenthal.  She approaches skin from a holistic angle, using the benefits of essential oils while working with the muscles and meridian pathways of the face, head and neck to create beautiful healthy skin!

The Rosenthal Signature Experience is 60 minutes long and comprises of a full head and face message with a neck, scalp and foot massage towards the end.  What sets it apart from other facials is the fact that no product is involved in the facial – this makes it the perfect gift for someone as you don’t need to worry about their skin type or allergies etc!

Omorovicza ‘Miracle Facial Set’ $188

This beautiful skincare set comes with Omorovicza’s award-winning Miracle Facial oil (30ml), Rejuvenating Night Cream (15ml) and Queen of Hungary Mist (30ml).

Omorovicza worked with a Hungarian Nobel prize winning laboratory to develop ingredients which deliver naturally occurring potent minerals.  Their Hydro Mineral Transference is in both the face spray and night cream.

The face oil is very hydrating, lightweight and absorbs beautifully into the skin.  It contains bakuchiol which is a naturally derived alternative to retinol, as well as sea blackthorn berry, rosehip and sweet almond oil.  The oil retails for $176 so $188 for the whole set is another amazing deal.

The face mist smells like orange blossom and neroli and the night cream is very thick – a little goes a long way and it leaves the skin very soft.

Drunk Elephant ‘Rescue Party Kit’ $119

This set is an amazing way to try out one of the most hyped skincare brands of the year!  This set comes with a full sized Lala Retro Whipped Cream moisturiser ($95) which uses a blend of six antioxidant-rich African oils, along with plantain extract, fermented green tea and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer.  This whip moisturiser is fantastic at nourishing the skin – there’s no scent and makeup applies well over it.

The other products include the Beste No 9 Jelly Cleanser 30ml, B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum 8ml, C-Tango Multi-Vitamin Eye Cream 5ml and the Lippe Balm.  5-8ml doesn’t sound like a lot, but the products last a surprisingly long time.

Like all Drunk Elephant products, these are 100% free of essential oils, silicones and fragrance which often irritates the skin.  This makes it a great gift for someone whose skin type you might not know.  The products in this set can all be used together, so it would also be a great gift for someone just getting into skincare or someone who’s after a new skincare regime!

Dolly Alderton ‘Everything I Know About Love’

This is one of my favourite books that I bought this year.  Dolly Alderton is an award-winning journalist who was the Sunday Times Style’s dating columnist from 2015-2017.   Everything I Know About Love is a collection of stories/memoirs by Dolly – it details everything she knew about love as a teenager through to an adult.

The book is hilarious because it’s so relatable and brutally honest! I’m sure that all of us here remember dial-up internet, terrible first dates and talking to your crush online.

While it’s very funny and does offer some great insight into relationships and modern ideas of love, the book is a light read – which in my opinion makes it the perfect summer beach read! This book makes a great gift for your girlfriends.

Jurlique ‘Sweet Peony & Tangerine Hand Cream’ $65

This limited edition hand cream smells so summery!  The cream is enriched with natural plant extracts including Calendula, Lavender and Marshmallow root.  It’s a fantastic cream for any dry patches and cuticles as it helps to improve the skin’s protective barrier.  You can never go wrong with gifting hand cream and this one looks and feels particularly luxurious.

Jurlique ‘Sweet Peony & Tangerine Hydrating Mist’ $54

Along with the hand cream, Jurlique also released this Hydrating Mist.  It’s infused of  natural antioxidants and aims to hydrate, soothe and restore balance to the skin.   Skincare can often be a hard thing to gift someone as you usually need to know their exact skin type and personal preference, but face mists are a lot easier to gift.  Face mists make a great gift because they usually suit a lot of skin types.  They can be used as a toner, setting spray or as a way to refreshen throughout the day.

Makeup Bag

You can’t go wrong with gifting a beauty lover a makeup/skincare bag. You’re guaranteed it will get used and be appreciated! My favourite makeup bags are the Minskat Copenhagen Make-Up Purse $106 and the Daily Edited Clear Travel Case $100 which you can have monogrammed!

Some products were kindly gifted by Mecca Cosmetica, Jurlique, the Daily Edited and Minskat Copenhagen.  All writing, photographs and opinions are my own.
