Guide for the Summer Season: Gifts and Beauty

This is a beauty guide to get you through the summer season!  With Christmas less than two weeks away, work seeming more hectic with every passing day and the weather getting warmer, it’s difficult to find the time to shop for presents and get yourself sorted for the summer.  This guide has you covered: Christmas gifts, summer product must-haves and new launches… best of all, you only have to go to one shop!  Farmers department store has the best selection of makeup, skincare, fragrance and beauty gift sets.  It’s your one-stop shop for all things beauty!

Estee Lauder ‘Repair & Renew for Radiant, Youthful-Looking Skin’ $207

If there’s one gift set you need to buy this Christmas, it’s this Estee Lauder one!  This set includes the famous Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II, 50ml (full-size), the Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex Synchronized Recovery 5ml, and the Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion, 30ml.  The Advanced Night Repair serum retails for $188 on its own, so $207 for this entire set is an amazing deal – and a great way to test the eye cream and lotion!

The Advanced Night Repair (ANR) is without a doubt a skincare classic.  Featured in Vogue’s Beauty Heroes, this serum hydrates, smoothes and strengthens the skin.  ANR uses ChronoluxCB™ Technology (patented until 2033) to address signs of ageing and ultimately make the skin look more radiant and even toned.  The great thing about this product is that it’s extremely hydrating and works well with all skin types, so you can’t really go wrong with gifting this to someone special for Christmas – plus, who wouldn’t be over the moon with this set?!

Lancome ‘Grandiose Hypnose Drama Set’ $67

This Lancome gift set is all about the eyes – it includes a full-size Grandoise mascara, a mini black crayon Khol and a bottle of Bi-Facil makeup remover.  The hero product in this set is the mascara which costs $62 on its own.  The formula is very wet and glossy, but it doesn’t clump at all.  It gives incredible length and little bit of volume which is what I aim for with mascara.  The formula is infused with rose-cell extract which strengthens the lashes as you wear the mascara! The mascara wand is bent at an angle to make reaching the lashes easy and it works like a dream.  This is the perfect gift set to give someone who loves focussing makeup looks on their eyes!

Ecoya ‘Mini Madison Gift Set’ $59.95

This gift set from Ecoya features three Mini Madison natural soy wax candles and makes the perfect Christmas gift!  What I often like to do with gift sets like this is split the products up – instead of giving one person three candles, I’ll give three friends a candle each as part of a little Christmas parcel.  I’ve burned Ecoya candles for years (in fact, as I write this blog post I can see two Ecoya candles on the coffee table in front of me) and I love how well the scents last.  The fragrances in this set are French Pear, Lotus Flower and Sweet Pea & Jasmine and they all burn for up to 25 hours.

STOCKING STUFFER: Natio ‘Complexion Perfection Foundation Sponge’ $8

These makeup sponges make the perfect stocking stuffers, so I bought three!  You can be guaranteed that any makeup lover will get good use out of this sponge.  Makeup sponges are my favourite way to apply makeup and I’ve tried a lot of different brands – Famers stock the ChiChi and Real Techniques makeup sponges which I’ve used in the past, but I prefer the shape of this Natio one.  The shape of this Natio sponge makes it really easy to hold and to reach all of the contours of the face.  You can use it damp or dry, but I find that it works best when dampened.  I’ll be putting these in stockings this year!

Chloe ‘Fleur de Parfum EDP’ $115 (30ml) – $149 (50ml)

I’ve been on the hunt for a summer perfume for a few months now and every time I sample perfumes in store I get drawn to the Chloe Fleur de Parfum.  It’s a clean, fresh, daytime scent that smells of roses, citrus and fruit.  Farmers have the most incredible selection of fragrances and I found it extremely difficult to decide between the Chloe Fleur de Parfum and the Chanel Chance Eau Tendre.  I eventually settled on the 20ml limited edition bottle of the Chloe.  It’s petite, the perfect handbag size and looks beautiful (I think I also decided on the 20ml because deep in the back of mind I know I’ll be going back for the Chance Eau Tendre soon).  There’s nothing better than finding the perfect summer perfume! I’ll be wearing this on Christmas day.

Clinique ‘Even Better Glow Light Reflecting Makeup’ $65

This is the perfect foundation for the summer!  The Clinique Even Better Glow has illuminating pigments which gives the skin a subtle glow, and it’s made with vitamin C and E so the foundation helps to brighten the skin as its worn.   Importantly, the Even Better Glow has SPF 15 which makes it the perfect foundation to wear outside in the sun.  I try to remember to wear sunblock every day, but it’s nice knowing that my foundation has SPF in it just in case.  This foundation is also sweat and humidity-resistant!  It’s moisturising, lightweight and blends in seamlessly with the skin – it’s everything I could ever want in a summer foundation!

Bobbi Brown ‘Smokey Eye Mascara Black’ $62

Welcome to your new Christmas party mascara.  This mascara creates full, dark, dramatic lashes and it does this without smudging or flaking!  It works perfectly with sweat and humidity, which makes it perfect for summer parties.  Bobbi Brown makeup truly is some of the best on the market – I decided to buy this mascara (along with the smokey eyeliner) for my sister who adores Bobbi Brown!  Together they’ll be perfect for summer parties.

Shiseido Eyelash Curler $26

I didn’t realise how terrible my old eyelash curler was until I tried this Shiseido one.  To describe this eyelash curler as ‘life changing’ may seem a bit extreme, but it’s completely changed the way I view my eyelashes!  A quick curl with this tool leaves my lashes looking full and my eyes more awake.   On days where I’m truly going for a ‘no makeup’ makeup look I will just curl my lashes with this and then use the Wet n Wild clear mascara (it’s only $5!) to help hold the curl.  This is my go-to for the summer when I don’t want to bother with mascara, but I still want my lashes to look nice – a lash tint, this curler and some clear mascara is the ultimate ‘no makeup’ look!  I cannot recommend this curler enough.

Shiseido Daiya Fude Face Duo $91

This is the only makeup brush you need!  Shiseido recently launched their Daiya Fude Face Duo which is a double ended makeup brush.  One end has soft synthetic fibres which is perfect for blending out foundation, while the other end is a gel blender.  It feels very soft and squishy and is perfect for blending out cream or liquid products.  The gel blender acts like fingertips which results in a very natural finish.  The brush can be used with liquids, creams, powders, and cushions – my favourite way to use it is to apply foundation with the synthetic fibre end and then use the gel blender to apply cream blush and contour.  The gel blender is also a great alternative to a sponge as it does’t soak up any product, although I would only recommend using it for small portions of the face.

Merry Christmas! X
