Avocado Eye Cream

Seemingly overnight my under-eyes became extremely dry and sore.  My Mario Badescu ‘Hyaluronic Eye Cream‘ wasn’t cutting it – I needed something which was seriously hydrating and I needed it fast.  I had so many people recommending the Kiehl’s  ‘Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado‘ that I made a bee line for the store (rushing to the shops in a frenzy seems to be how I end up buying a lot of my skincare products).

This eye cream claims that it will gently moisturise the under-eye area, smooth the skin, won’t move under makeup and that it is suitable for all skin types.  Kiehl’s recommends that you tap the product in instead of pulling.

The key ingredients in this eye cream are avocado oil, beta-carotene and shea butter.  Avocado oil is apparently the most moisturising of any fruit oil and is a natural source of  Vitamins A, D, E and Potassium.  Beta-Carotene is an antioxidant found in orange and red vegetables, and I’m sure you all know about shea butter – it’s a very moisturising natural fat from the fruit of the African Karate tree which is known for its hydrating properties (remember The Body Shop ‘Body Butter‘?  I was obsessed).

So how does the eye cream perform?  It’s moisturising, soothing, gentle… everything it claims to be.  This is one of the best eye creams I have ever tried because it actually does hydrate my under-eyes!  The second it’s applied my under-eyes feel so hydrated and they look plumped.  It does look quite shiny when first applied (although it doesn’t feel greasy), but after a while it sinks into the skin.

I would definitely follow the Keihl’s tips when it comes to applying the cream – it’s so thick and creamy that you definitely can’t swipe it under your eyes as that will only tug your skin and won’t distribute the product well at all.  Instead, tap it under your eyes until the cream sinks in.  Happily, concealer applies really well over this eye cream!  It doesn’t separate at all and the under-eye area remains really hydrated.  This didn’t help at all with dark circles, but it doesn’t claim to.

I highly recommend this eye cream for those of you with irritated and dry under-eyes.  If you feel that nothing you try is hydrating enough, then give this  ‘Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado‘ a go.  When they say it’s creamy, it really is creamy.  It’s helped my skin so much!  It’s one of those products that I look forward to using and it never fails to moisturise my under-eyes.
